What's worse than 1 billion half-dead Earthlings? 1 billion half-dead Earthlings on a 52-foot screen, duh.

Variety reports "World War Z" will re-release for a one-week run in IMAX theaters starting this Friday, Aug. 2. Because, ya know, the world just can't get enough of those faceless zombie hoards (... that, and Paramount really needs to make more of their money back).

News of this IMAX engagement should not come as too big a surprise for box office aficionados. Since its June 21 release date, "World War Z" has grossed a formidable $460 million, but even that apocalyptic sum is still a far cry from the rumored $600 million or so the studio will need to earn to break even on production and advertisement costs.

Of course, when the studio released an announcement to explain the decision to lure in IMAX-goers for the next week of global zombie-slaying (or fleeing, as in the case of Pitt's supposedly hardcore Gerry Lane), they made no mention of these cash grab ambitions.

Instead, they claimed "[t]he crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie." So, you are to believe you'll actually feel like you're getting chased by a neverending pack of blood-thirsty zombies rather than just watching like all the normies 'cause ...

Meanwhile, "World War Z" is still in regular theaters to scratch any lingering ordinary-scaled zombie itches, too.
